CovERTT - The Biometric Attendance System.

As part of a University project, I set out to develop an attendance system, for a local company, Software Europe. Much research was conducted into the most appropriate method of identification, and in the end biometric identification came out on top. Therefore, I built (in C#) fingerprint scanning software, that identified a user and stored their log in time in a database.

The current iteration of the product means that these aims (see benefits below) have been fufilled!

1. Allowing secure physical access to a building or room, by integrating the device with a hardware lock.
2. Accurate attendance logging.
3. Quick, easy access to records, in case of an emergency, shortening response time to find all employees.
4. Efficient sign-ins, in a quick and easy manner.
5. Secure backups of data, for access via a web enabled device.
6. Comprehensive reporting on data such as employee working hours, for adherence to local and national law.
7. Future-Proof system, allowing incremental updates as soon as they are released, providing more advanced features.

My next endevour is to use a Netduino to take this information, and control a door lock, to provide an access control system. Then, I hope to use my Android development knowledge to build an app to control this, for times when access needs to be given remotely.
